It was in Aug 2008 that I shifted to National Games Village Koramangala in Bangalore. Then started the hunt for a place to buy grocery, meats, fruits and vegetables. Then one day I landed up in Spar in the Oasis Mall and my search was over.
I have been shopping only there for grocery, meat varieties, fish, fruits and vegetables. Having been regularly shopping at whole sale and specific markets, I have a fair idea of quality, price and services and the Spar I found was what I wanted. It is a joy to shop there and every time I return back home as a delighted customer. Back home I keep appreciating Spar as I enjoy my food, beverages and snacks I purchase there.
Go early in the morning if you can. Spar opens at 10 am in the morning though other stores in the Mall open at 11. Ample parking is availble at level 4 for spar. Saturday and Sunday mornings are real big rush that can irritate you while you are in a queue for selecting your choice of fish or meat and when you find yourself at the end of long line at the billing counter though they are plenty of them. Evenings are also fine to pick at stuff at the end of the day after work. Spar closes around 9 pm. And even at that time you get fresh greens, fruits, vegetables and fish.
Spar has admirable variety. Probably every thing you need for your daily living. One bad thing that has happened to me is that I hardly go to any other shopping places now for home needs and that restricts exploration. When I compare prices at other shops for curiosity I find Spar cheaper for the quality.
Variety and quality of fish, mutton, beef and poultry is a treat for a shopper. Fish is always fresh and the boys clean it well to the customers choice. Selection of specific parts of chicken, mutton and beef offers delight. And then to add to the joy of a busy house wife or a bachelor staying alone, there is the marinated ready to cook spread at a very reasonable price. For fish I found it uniqely the best place in Bangalore.
The grocery is genuine quality and the brands placed in the store I found have been scanned for quality. I have not found sub standard items there. There are good offers too on week ends.
There are Black spots too in the Mall. Polynation the food court has always been disappointment. I have not been there for the last six months after the constant dissatisfaction I had suffered. The Tandoor restaurant is sub standard for quality and quantity of food, service and price. I still feel the pinch of a bad experience I had six months back. Feel cheated, and the scar has not vanished till date. They are dwarfed in comparison to the food courts in Forum and Bangalore Central.
Those who shop for fish, make it a point to take your fish queue coupon as you go to the store so that your turn comes by the time you select the rest in your shopping list.
The dairy products and bakery items are of good quality but priced too high in comparison to other places in the city.
Over all the Spar at Oasis Mall in Bangalore is joyous place to be, to shop, take a walk through or even treat your eyes with variety of items stocked clean and fresh. The service in this place adds to it's attraction.
