My son attended Class 1 at Oakridge. From day 1, I noticed discipline issues. The bus staff would not communicate when they experienced traffic delays. Parents would be anxiously waiting to pick up their children. Upon discussing this with school administration several times, the issue remained unresolved throughout the year. The campus is ok but not at all shady. In the hot, summer heat, kids played outside and came home red faced and sunburned.
The infirmary nurse was often missing. Class teachers were not highly qualified. Level of spoken english is not upto the standards of good English medium schools leave alone international ones. All the activities were mediocre. Turnover was very high. 2 class teachers in my son's class left. There was no hindi teacher for 6 months. Music and dance were rudimentary at best. The sports teacher takes coaching lessons privately in our gated community and does a better job in his private coaching.
The parent coordinators were never available to talk. Upon writing a strong email regarding a bullying issue in class, the parent coordinator called me and blamed me for not contacting her. Instead of being apologetic, the school staff is rude and unprofessional.
They don't care about their students. For a mass education school it is okay but posing as an international school when it lacks the standards, discipline, capacity and wherewithal is pretentious. For folks who only care to spend their money, get the international tag and are overall okay with the mediocrity, I would say go for it.
I am an educator who comes from a long line of distinguished educators and I remained not only unimpressed but dismayed in certain instances at the callousness of the school. Needless to say, my son will not continue his education here. I would have shelled out the fees, albeit a little grudgingly had there been an adequate response and mechanism to improve.
In the end, the school has the infrastructure and facilities but that's about it. Without a cadre of genuine and dedicated leadership and faculty, it doesnt live up to its potential.
