The school grossly disappoints given the high esteem that they project. I recently moved from US to India and got my son into Oakridge International School. I was told to pay 2 lac rupees as donation fee for admission into Gachibowli campus. Their new but far away Bachupally campus requires no donation. I agreed to pay 2 lacs as I thought it would save my son commute time every day. But the school has gross mis-management. The buses typically are late, and doesn't even start from school more than 30 min after the school is over. Tired children are forced to waste their time in sun.
The school has very small campus and there's only 1 field. My son keeps complaining that they don't let him go out to play in open during break/recess time. He feels overwhelmed being inside buildings all day. For such a small campus, they keep admitting more and more students and claim that the school is designed with 3000 students in mind - when it clearly is not.
The whole school management is around lack of space. Kids are scheduled to take Music class first thing in the morning and lose precious morning hours which should be dedicated to studies. This is because they have limited space and need to use the little music room through out the day. Similarly, lunch is scheduled so early that my son is typically not hugryat that time, and later gets hungry. Again, because of limited lunch space.
There's significant lack of discipline. My son complaints about class room being so noisy that he can't hear the teacher most of the time. There are rich kids coming here and teachers are not trained on how to discipline kids.
The facilities are average. Class rooms are small in size, and the AC didn't work. The bathrooms/restrooms are dirty. The boys urinal is so high that my son can't use it. That seems like a basic issue in PYP school. And no one is bothered about it.
The school is also charging very high fee from new students. There is gross mismanagement happeing. They keep asking for same documents and information multiple times and no one knows whether your personal information is kept safe or not.The extra curricular activities are there only for names sake. Schools pushes kids hard on signing up for after school hours, so much to the extent that the school assembly talks only about extra innings(the after school program).
The school has changed children's uniform twice in recent years. Many kids do not have proper uniform and wear regular clothes. The school is not bothered about indiscipline and distraction that these things bring.
Their principle recently left and there's no new principle yet. For professionally run schools, this should have been arranged ahead of time to ensure smooth transition. They are just focussed on money making.
May be my expectations were too high, but I'm entitled to it, given the high fees and donation I am paying.
