I wanted to upgrade to a new phone. I had a sony errison k508i which i used for the last 2 yrs.
Now when I started my hunt for the options available in the medium segment, with
a value for money perspective, I could not spot much phone models among all the popular brands. I am not a hardcore mobile user who goes behind the phone which gives you all the features till date came in to the mobile phones and more. And my budget was something less than 9k.
I am not a fan of any brand in particular. I want some brand who gives me more on the money I spend and the phone should be elegant, not bulky like the nokia n series, easy to carry in my shirt pocket(always i do), w
ith features like camera, mp3, fm(the available feature should work best)
After going through the motorola, sony erricson websites searching for the my kind of phone, I found nothing attractive or different. The motorola slims are flat but are wider. I spanned my search to nokia(I always had a feel like, the nokia gives less for more money and sony erricson gives more features for less money) noticed the 6300. The look and the screen clarity first impressed me.
Then I checked MS for the user feedbacks. Except the low battery standby time, everyone has good things to say about 6300. To me battery life should be something which should last 2 or 3 days as I am a normal user, who use the other features like the camera/bluetooth occassionaly. I went in search of a good deal in my city dealer after dealer to get the best price for my old phone and lowest price for the new one. Then I tested the phones features including the blue tooth and USB. The Mini usb port is the one thing which is really useful as you can use the datacable which comes with your digital camera/ mp3 players(if u have already). But I feel the phone pack could have included a cable.
Overall Iam impressed by the build quality, style, look and the feel you get when you hold 6300 in your hand. The Stainless steel body is silky smooth and solid. For my kind of use the fully charged battery last for 2-2.5 days. And I got a good deal too. I just paid 6k+my old sony errison for the new one.
Now I got a stylish mobile with almost all the features, a gr8 FM + Cool big clear colorfull display + 2MP camera + 128MB card + a decent Headset with mic + a well suited carry pouch for my 6300.

Guys I thought of Updating my experience with the phone after a couple of months use
I faced no major issues and the battery gives me a decent standby of 2.5-3 days for normal use with some 2-3 calls per day and some amount of multimedia use.
One problem I face is since the phone surface is too shiny and smooth you will leave behind your finger prints on the surface and for maintaining the shine, you need to wipe the surface often (once in 2 days or so) with a soft cotton cloth.
Another thing, I would recommend nokia to improve the volume control button on the side, which seems to be inaccessible and hard to use if you want to change volume level while you talk.
