A true Smartphone with Music Capabilities. Review on Nokia 5700

After so many years of reading I have decide to write a review. So this is my view on Nokia 5700 and every one has full right to be on another side. I have this phone for past 6 months and precisely speaking I simply feel great by its overall performance.

It scores in almost every department except for few things. All details are given below in bulleted form for easy reading. First I’ll go for goods and than bad.

The Good factor:

*Construction

is rock solid**; especially the twist part works seamlessly with phone. Grip

is good and though the plastic is smooth it does not catch fingerprints. A very fast processor, 369 MHz is amazing

for a Symbian Smart phone.A very

good firmware; S60 3rd edition with feature pack 1. Few basic things

whose absence irritates a user in phones with out FP1 are now available.

For example multiple alarms facility, Auto keypad lock etc.A nice

screen; believe me. Its 2.2”, and because of QVGA resolution and 16

Millions color it sparkles.**A very

very good keypad, **it is really nice its feel is good and you will never

face any problem while typing. (Working with joystick takes some time

though). you feel it if you love to play games or type a lot of messages and mails on phone.

Nokia

is continuously releasing new updates for this phone which makes it more

and more stable.As it

is S60, plenty of games and numerous applications are available for

download. From office suite to PDF viewer, folder locker with encryption, call

black list, voice mail in phone; all are available. (Can be downloaded

freely from Nokia and other sites)OS is

quite responsive with no delays and hangs usually.Good

sound quality, from loud speakers and from headset too, **DAC effect is

clear.**A nice

piece of utility in form of headset and a good remote.Such headset is not

available with any other Nokia phone, even N95 comes with a cheap accessory.Video viewing is pleasure as when you twist it it turns fullscreen and you can watch with out holding it in your hands.(Simply put this on table :-))

Now the Bad factor

Well it

should have a default 3.5 jack for headset instead of 2.5. Though you can

inject a 3.5 headset with the help of remote provided but it seems an

option in which you have to carry one more accessory.Volume

is not loud. Neither had I expected that from such tiny speakers but if

you really want some loud sound from the speakers this is not your cup of coffee.Images

are grainy most of the time unless you are in good sunlight. But this is case

with almost every other phone. But again if you want to have a phone with good

imaging capabilities this is not the choice.Placement

for Menu and cancel button is not appropriate.Last

but not least, beware of Nokia Care guys, they are not very intelligent

guys from Nokia, they holds very specific information. My experience was

average with them as I asked them to upgrade my firmware and they

reinstall the same version. Than I told them that new version is available

and than only they upgraded my phone. Nokia support staff is also not up

to mark with company’s reputation. They simply replies your mail with blah

blah and will try to get you move towards care guy.I am still not able to upgrade my phone on my own as nokia website is not up to date. So better buy it with warranty so that you can reach Nokia care and get your job done. poor work nokia update your indian site and let customer upgrade their phones; otherwise remove software updater application link.

I am happy with this phone with all features of a Smartphone

with such a economic rate, it is really worth for your money. I don’t expect a

good camera in a phone and volume clarity means more to me than loudness with

noise. And about 3.5 jacks, I have to say that I can live with it coz no phone

is perfect in this market.

I really recommend it. Good Job Nokia (ACHIEVE SIMILIAR REPO IN CARE DEPT., as they are the guys who ultimately wins customer for you)

P.S.: It supports N Gage Unofficially, i.e. you can play

NGage games on this phone. Also remember to upgrade your firmware as version 3.27 is full of restrats. at least upgrade it to 3.83.1
