I bought a Nissan Sunny XL diesel way back in 2012 Dec and have driven it around for about 53, 000 KMS now.
Though I like the car for its space, mileage it fails to impress on the key aspects. Mileage is stunningly great for a car like this - 17-18 kmpl in city traffic.
The Brakes are not that effective and you will feel the difference in braking when you apply them when the road is covered with sand. Service personnel did give an explAnasultantion on the nature of braking, whatever it is - It just gives you a scare. ABS doesn't seem that effective - I hit 170 kmph(that is the max I have clocked) and tried my brakes to see if they react better - I just felt that it wasnt that quick.(I tried the braking with Skoda Laura sometime back and found that effective, though not an apple to apple comparison but Braking is very vital).
Brakes also start screeching when you apply them. It just makes you feel irritated, but it is your car - you have to adjust! Services and cleaning did not help much.
On the Gear transmission, if you complain to your service personnel that you have difficulty in shifting gears from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3, he will just say it is a known problem & Nissan is doing an R&D there. I just wonder what they're upto -'tis been 3 years!
Other problem that you need to be conscious of is the continuous accele_45ration that you will see when you are driving @ 40-60 kmph.
