I am writing a review on an automobile after quite a long time. The Nissan Micra, popularised by Ranbir Kapoor in the commercial has swayed the market in a short span of time. Recently, my dad purchased the Micra XV(top end model) at a price of Rs 6,03,000. We had been using the Santro Zing for roughly seven years before it and in comparison, Micra seems to be worth both its money as well as performance apart from its technological advances and other features.
We had considered other cars such as Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai i10 as well as Hyundai i20 before settling with the Micra. The reasons were that the above cars, both German as well as Japanese provided reliability in all senses, especially when it came to performance,comfort and electronics.But the main hurdle had been the waiting period for upto 4 months in case of the Polo. When we decided to check out on the Micra from a newly opened Nissan showroom, we were promised delivery of the vehicle within a span of just 15 days.
I will elaborate on the points which make it better or superior to its counterparts :-
1) Performance - Coming to its main feature(as of any other vehicle), Micra's performance is in its ability to zoom at high speeds with just a slight touch of the accelerator.The speed-o-meter would reach upto 60 at even the second or third gear.This is in contrast to the Santro or any previous year model cars where lower speeds are achieved even at higher gears.More over,one wouldnt feel or experience the effect of moving at high speeds i.e 90 or above on highways or fast lanes, since it has been designed for a smooth and comfortable ride. It provides a mileage of over 18 km/l, something which most automobile users would love to prefer.However, there exists small drawbacks such as higher noise levels from the tyres or vibrations when the engine is at standstill.
2) Interiors - The most noticeable feature of this vehicle is its interiors, quite evident in the back. It has a better dashboard and interior shades as compared to the Santro.For the driver, there is enough leg room to operate and both the driver's seat as well as the other front seat are both adjustable to the comfort level or can be moved slightly in front or back.
Power Steering enables the steering wheel to be used smoothly and conveniently.
Like their foreign counterparts,it is also equipped with 2 SRS Airbags, both for the front seats, saving passengers from dangerous accidents.
The Micra is equipped with an automatic AC which adjusts the interior temperature specifically when it drops down. Also, the Music System is worth mentioning since it provides good sound clarity and the sound does not jarr even at a higher volume.However,I feel that the Santro was equipped with a better one.
3) Technology - In this aspect, the Micra undoudbtedly beats the Santro. I was quite surprised to know the kind of features this vehicle offers. Some of these include :-
Keyless entry/start - As shown in the ad, there is no key for opening the doors or starting the car.It has a push-button start system.However,a key with in built sensors are provided such that the doors would get unlocked as it approaches the car. It can also be manually or automatically locked.
Auto door lock - A great feature, where all the doors would lock if the vehicle moves at/above 10 km/hr. A button next to the driver's seat ensures locking all the four doors and windows.
Auto OVRM - The rear view mirror opens and closes automatically when the car is either started or shut.
Computer indicators - The in built computer provides all sorts of information such as the fuel consumption,mileage or warning signs if any of the tyres are deflated or require replacement, fused lights, doors not shut properly,etc. In addition, a reverse gear indicator can be fit on customers request which is quite useful during reverse.
I guess I have done justice to the vehicle by mentioning the above points. In all aspects, this car is worth its price and provides great satisfaction to its customers.
