I ordered two birthday cakes for my kid's birthday at the Nilgiris Store in Sahakaranagar, Bangalore .
Went to the store to place an order on Saturday, 25th Feb. The store Manager accepted to take the order with great reluctance(i dont know why). I wanted the cake to be delivered on Monday, 27th Feb at 9.30 a.m, which was promised by the store.
On Monday, we went to collect the cakeat 9.30 a.m. only to find that it was yet to arrive. The store Manager was not present. We were told that he comes only by 12 noon. One funny character in the store started abusing the Nilgiris factory & poured his anger on them, without giving us a solution. Half an hour passed by, we did not get a reply other than "it is on the way Sir'.
Finally, the cakes arrived at 10.40. Now unfolds the real story.
We opened the first cake(chocolate) at my kid's school. Shockingly, the cake seemed to be made at least 2 months ago. it was hard & brittle, with some fresh cream draped on it. We had to distribute it at the school to save ourselves from the embarrassment.
We wanted to cut the other one(Vanilla) at home in the presence of a few close relatives & friends. Shockingly, this cake too was equally bad & brittle.
I think Nilgiris is on a stock clearing spree & emptying all their unused new year cakes!
Beware friends, don't order their cakes. I think others like Sweet Chariot & Just Bake are much better not only with their quality but also with their service & promise.
On a day which was meant to be joyful, I made myself a Grand Villan at home because I was the one to insist buying cakes only from Nilgiris. I will never repeat this mistake all my life.
Moral of this story-'Big brand names need not necessarily mean quality'.
PS- I went to the store this evening to give a feedback. Although the store manager was present in the basement area, he did not bother to come over & take my feedback.
I'd rather resist from celebrating my children's birthday than ordering this left over stuff!
