Confession: I regret the fact that I bunked college(for the first time in my life) just to watch this movie. Because, after watching it, I realized that enduring Prof. Sharma and Prof. Saxena in college is a lot easier. The(very) good thing about both these professors is that if you are not interested, you can sleep peacefully and they will not bother to wake you up because you are not ‘disturbing the class, at least’. The problem with unwatchable movies is that you cannot doze off in peace because of the noise in the theater and the song-n-dance numbers that come up after every 30 minutes. So, I did not get any peaceful sleep. I have now realized that my bed is a better place for that.

I don’t wanna give away the whole story coz I don’t wanna spoil the ‘suspense’ in case you are going to watch this yawny movie(though I would advise you not to). This movie should be watched only if you have no other more important business.

Basically, it’s about a fiercely ambitious Bobby Deol who wants to produce/direct a movie. ‘Reality cinema’ as he calls it. It basically involves roping in a ‘bekaari se majboor’ Akshaye Khanna and getting him to ‘ruin kisika rishta’. The ruining process shall be filmed without the knowledge of the people whose ‘rishta’ he is ruining and then the footage shall be used to make a real film. He believes that that would make the film more real and natural. Troubled by his conscience, Akshaye Khanna declines at first….but eventually gives in because he needs money to get rid of his ‘karz mein dooba’ situation.(debt-ridden, for short). He genuinely falls in love with the girl whose rishta he tods and the usual emotional and other predictable things happen. What Khanna does not know is that the director of the movie has hidden cameras in his house too and therefore now has footage of his and his pretty lady’s private life on tape. When he threatens the great, glitzy directorsaab, he gets blackmailed saying that if he tries to act smart, the unedited footage will be put up on the net and he will then become a porn-star.

Now, I don’t wanna tell you the whole story and then be blamed for spoilers. So, let me just shut up. But basically, what happens in the end is that good wins over evil and Akshaye and his damsel live happily ever after.

There are emotional sequences in the film….but they end abruptly with Bobby Deol snickering at the emotional drama that just took place saying that this was also part of the movie and they were secretly being filmed. So, basically, everybody’s emotions get played with and nobody can make out what is genuine and what is being staged only for the sake of being filmed. This happens 3 or 4 times after which you get tired of guessing what is real and what is being said and done only to satisfy the hidden cameras which keep popping out of places that they shouldn’t pop out of. Bobby Deol dies once, then comes back saying that he died only because it was part of his film and he was being filmed at that time. So when he dies again, you never know whether he has died really or was just being filmed again.

In case, you are thinking that bluegrapes is a psychic person who is torturing you with this ‘review’, then you are under no obligation to read further. But then, I would be lying if I tell you that this is an ‘exquisite, splendid…brilliant’ movie.

It has very little grip and the new actress(Urvashi) looks very pretty and charming….but she would’ve been better as a model. Sometimes, you feel that too much attention has been given to her face, he clothes, her features and her style and attitude and everything….displaying her girlie charm takes up too much of screen time.

When the movie was nearing its end, many people in the theater were murmuring and talking amongst themselves and it felt like many of them had lost interest in watching.

To be very honest, the story wasn’t bad…… it could’ve been executed in a better way.

Acting: On the acting front, Bobby Deol and Akshaye Khanna do their job well. The leading lady seems to have the potential to come up as an actress in Bollywood….she would’ve had her chance in Naqaab itself hadn’t they been concentrating so much on her girlie charms and her clothes and the way she runs….(yeah, observe that….she runs differently…maybe its her heels….or whatever…)At least, I don’t run like her and I haven’t seen people around me running like that either. Maybe, there is something wrong with us.

Direction: Don’t want to elaborate. It was average.

Music: Average. Nothing to elaborate, again.

Let me end the ‘review’(or whatever you want to call this) unceremoniously by saying that I am surprised that this movie is recommended by ‘80% of Mouthshut members’ so far. I need some justification……

Thanks for reading, cuties……your comments(good/bad) are most welcome always….Cheerio!
