When you see Namastey London, Its bound to remind you of Manoj Kumar.I have never been a great fan of Manoj Kumar; but he made few wonderful films like Purab Aur Paschim and Upkaar. Who clearly showed the confusion prevalant in indian society with respect to the value system. If you relate that to indian parents living abroad, its actually has its moment of truth. They struggle to keep a balance in between their monetory ambitions and cultural values all the time. To quote from the film " Pound me paisa kamana chahte ho aur angutha tajmahal me gad ke rakha hai " types, show the confusion very aptly.

The story of the film is simple. Rishi Kapoor has been an NRI for good long years, long enough to let his daughter Katrina imbibe the british culture fully. So, she is independent and wants to live life full with all the booze and dics by the side. The very thought of her getting this way, scares Rishi Kapoor, and he tries to trap her by marrying her with an Indian Boy played by Akshay Kumar. Katrina mentally is not tuned to indian life styles so naturally she does not accept Akashay Kumar. The film rotates around how Akshay tries to win her wife(?) back who does not even accepts that they are married.

First half of the film moves in a flip flop fashion and does not look very impressive, as Akshay Kumar looks very casual and rather un impressive. Second half is gripping, and that is where actually you develope interest in the movie( may be because of the story line, or bacause we all are indian at heart and want Akshay to win his wife back).

Akshay Kumar looks good in the second half and manages to give a decent performance. Katrina completely does the justice to her role with accented dialogue deliveries and mannerisms. She has come a long way and is looking pretty. Rishi Kapoor is impressive as well as her wife ( do not know the name of the actor).

Music is good except the song played at the time of casting. Most of the songs are hit already.

All in all, a good package deal which does not leave a bad taste in your mouth and does not burden your nerves.  A good effort by Vipul Shah, worth a dekho.
