I could not put this book down. Ms. Kermeen captured the essence of the plantation and the encounters there fabulously.
She speaks about Hamp Sanders (my old boyfriend) and brought back many memories of Hamp. I spent several nights at the Myrtles with Hamp before Ms. Kermeen bought the building. Many scary things happened but I would just close my eyes and bury my face into Hamp's chest. One thing I remember was sitting in the Gentleman's parlor on the sofa and someone noticed the sofa cushoin next to me crush down as if someone was sitting there.
I quickly fled. Not long after I noticed someone breathing on the outside window pane. I looked around and there was no one there. There is so much activity there but I think you have to be receptive to it. Thanks Frances for a great book. Frances if you ever read this I would love to talk to you about Hamp. I too miss him terribly. I can be reached at seagobbler@aol.com Thanks, Gerri
