I read the reviews of many writers and enjoy most of them. There are passionate writers, there are factual writers, there are fantasy writers and there are creative writers….. There are also specific
reviews which are very dear to me.
My trust list is totally based upon such people at MS, whose writings (reviews or comments) mean something to me. Hence, I picked up some names from my trust list to make this. You can see a clear bias towards Hindi Films/ Songs as that is the category that I visit the most.
Of course… it was not possible for me to write about everyone…. This is only a sample of my trust list. Sorry if I have missed you :-) Here again, in stead of picking up five names, I am picking up 5 categories of people, whom I find the best at MS. Obviously I won’t have been able to do justice to this review if I picked up my entire trust list. Hence, this is a sample of such reviewers.
So here they go.... Wherever a topic (other than the member ID) comes in bracket next to the member’s name, it means that this is my favorite review from the author.
1. They are a Class ApartNow this is the group of people, who will end up in most readers’ Best Five Writers. I would have loved to put everyone here. But ultimately my vote goes to those two, who write across the topics, all the reviews are excellent and always try to bring in something new.
First on the least is
Sujata (afrank) …. BTW Sujata, you must be pretty accustomed to see your name in most of these lists…. What to say of her…. Each review is refreshingly different, she makes it a point to reply to every comment on her reviews and goes to other writers and comments on them also. Her range varies from being a critic to someone writing the heart’s contents. My favorite? The review on Bandini.
The second one is a man who writes on movies, songs, cricket, bikes and cars…. Each of the reviews is great. He is not a regular to my reviews, but I make it a point to read each review that he writes. That is
Milind (mnc123). All I want to say to him is….
na maut aati hai naa memsaab aati hai…. Lekin Milind Bhai, tum bahot ache likhte ho!! ….Of course, his review on Muqaddar ka Sikander is my favorite.
2. The ExpertsThis is the list of those, who may write across various segments, but specialize in one or two areas, where they are incomparable. Most of these “experts” I have picked from the film/ music/ entertainment category as I visit that most frequently. I can think of
Criminal (20 Best songs of Lata Mangeshkar),
indian1969 (Hrishikesh Mukherjee) and
sureshmehcnit (Dil Se Album) in this category. I never miss out taking the pleasure from their reviews. Another person worth mentioning is
Lyla alias Cousin2 who writes mostly on travel. However, anybody who has seen her review on Tsunami Relief, will definitely be touched.
3. They Make the Reading a PleasureNow this is the group, who write on various topics, without much concentration on any one in particular. If you want, you can call them Jack of All Trades or All-rounder… suite yourself. My favorites in this group are
Mayank alias matwalaboy (5 worst reviewers),
thegreatone (10 worst choreographed songs) and
svjayalakshmi (Cosmopolitan Magazine).
4. They Make our Reviews WorthwhileNow, this is the list whom we’ll find it difficult to see on someone’s Best Reviewers list. These are those, who write a lot of comments, who make sincere efforts to see what they have to say and make your reviews worth it. I mean, honestly it gives a great feeling if I know that someone is sincerely reading my reviews. Not that they don’t have good writing skills. When they write, their reviews often end up getting very high ratings. I can think of three such members, who deserve applause from each one of us. They are
Jai_Coer (20 Tragic Songs),
Aradhanavarma2002 (Best Hindi Films) and
Dr Shafique (20 Best Hindi Songs).
I do not want to repeat the names, but I can not think of anyone toping Lyla’s list of 33,000 + ratings or 11,000 + comments written.
5. The Next GenerationHey… sorry all the people…. My clear favorites are the young brigade. I always get impressed looking at the talent and passion of this group at MS. If this is the sample of next generation, then India is in safe hands.
The first in the list is
Vaishnavi (vash1993), the youngest of the lot. Fine, her reviews are not always the best and not always end up with VU rating. But this sixth grader makes honest attempts to bring in variety and learns from the criticism in stead of getting bugged down. My Favorite: Black (It was a preview)
Another writer whose passion for writing comes out in every word he says is
Raj (Nikamma1112), only 17 years old. He has got style, class and depth. I enjoy reading his reviews, which are unique. I think his best was the review on MS itself.
And how can we forget the latest child prodigy of MS ….
Munaim (wear your glasses) who made waves with his review on Archies recently!!!
Now I come to the last name on my list… being a bit partial…. My favorite member at MS. He has not written many reviews, but has made his presence felt through these small numbers. So hats off to these 17 year old,
Jaidev Deshpande. I wonder why he stopped writing after his Tsunami review. My favorite is his list of “5 Love Songs That I would sing for my beloved”, a list, that brought out deep feelings through words.
Sorry if I have missed anybody. I completely trusted my trsut list and did not look beyond.
So that’s it from me.
Until Next Time.
Bye.
