Pros:

Cons:
many bad reviews, payment system not thoroughly explained

This is my first review here at Mouthshut.com. I’ve already read several other member’s reviews, so I thought I would write my first one on my rating system.

Requirements
for Mouthshut.com

According to Mouthshut.com, you must:
1)Provide an informative review
2)Write at least 75 words
3)Be honest
4)Write well

What I Think

1)Informative Review--The whole purpose of writing a review is to be informative, otherwise, don’t waste your/my time.

2)At least 75 Words--Only 75 words? I don’t think you could tell me enough to get a Recommended from me with only 75 words. I’ve already written well over 75 words in just this short time.

3)Honesty-- I think this is rather self- explanatory.

4)Write well--I don’t think I’m alone when I say that nobody wants to read junk. If you just throw something together that makes no sense at all and is chalk full of spelling errors, you might as well not write a thing. But if you don’t use correct grammar or misspell a thing here and there, I’m not going to rate you poorly-- God knows I can’t spell.

5)Topics-- If you’re going to review Kentucky (the state) please don’t tell me about Kentucky Fried Chicken. Or worse yet, your new HP printer. Stay on topic. If you stray a bit, I’m not going to chastise you, but try to keep to the task at hand.

6)Entertainment-- Oh geez, I can’t tell you how many reviews I’ve read that are so boring it hurts me to push further down the page. I don’t expect to be rolling on the floor, but please try to provide some sort of incentive for reading your work.

7)Do I agree?-- I don’t care if you write a review on something I absolutely hate, if you write a great review, I’m going to rate accordingly. Likewise if you write a poor review.

8)Revenge Rating-- I’m not yet sure if this happens here, but at the other community for which I write, it happens constantly. So, to cover that base, please, don’t revenge rate. That’s totally childish. If I give you a poor rating, it’s because I honestly didn’t think you deserved better. I’m not going to rate you poorly just because I don’t like the color of your hair, your opinion on a product, or because you gave me a poor review.

My ’’System’’ (if you will)

This is a break-down of how I rate a review.

Highly Recommended

· You tell me lots of things about the product/service you reviewed.
· You keep my attention during the duration of my reading your review.
· You tell me why you like it and why you don’t.
· Few (if any) spelling/ grammar errors.
·Over-all You simply give a really good or above review.

Recommended

Lots of people get frustrated when they get less than a HR on any review. I know I do. But in all truths, getting an R isn’t that bad. It means you wrote a good review. The difference between an HR and an R is just how good the review is. Both are good, but could a review be better? If so, you’ll get an R from me.

· You tell me lots of things about the product/service you reviewed.
· You keep my attention during the duration of my reading your review.
· You tell me why you like it and why you don’t.
· Few spelling/ grammar errors.
·Over-all You simply give a good review.

Somewhat Helpful

· Your review tells me a few things I needed to know, but not nearly enough to make an informative decision about the product.
· You have several spelling/ grammar errors, but I can still understand a good bit of your review.
· Your review is boring and barely holds my attention.
· You are almost entirely off topic, but the review is still a decent read.

Not Recommended

· You told me practically nothing about the product/service you reviewed, or I have reason to believe you’ve never even used the product.
· Your review is painful to read because it’s so very boring. (I realize this one’s not terribly exciting, but it’s only my first review.)
· Your review is hard to read due to grammar and spelling problems. I’m not going to waste my time by reading your review, if by the second paragraph I’m not understanding a word you said. I’ll just NR ya.
· You’re entirely off- topic and at least one of the above.

Finally

I try to leave a comment with your review if I rate less than R, but, not always. If I don’t, and you wonder why I didn’t rate you higher, email me and I’ll let you know.
