Like to share your opinion? From it’s beginning, the Internet has been an ideal place to broadcast personal opinions, experiences, problems, solutions, and other adventures. With the broad availability
of the Web came even more convenient options for obtaining and posting personal opinions and evaluations. This capability combined with users desire to share their opinions on a wide range of products and services has led to the creation of many product assessment sites.
One of the Indian portals where you can air your views is
Mouthshut.com, I. I did not see it on any advertisement (internet or otherwise) but one day just received an e-mail invitation from its CEO. Logging on to it, I was amazed to see its contents, and the format and ever since have been virtually addicted to it.
The site gives you the opportunity to contribute and view others’ thoughts free of charge and information on products quality, praise, complaints, ratings, reviews, discussion, rip offs, and shady affairs. Whilst Amazon was the first to start reviews on books, and others in the West followed,
Mouthshut.com has bravely provided a platform for Indians for which it deserves laurels.
The thing that troubles me is that all the products being reviewed are the ones only available in India. I can appreciate this for Electric Appliances, Household goods but in items like Electronics, Cell phones, there is are new developments and new models available every minute, which are not included in the site, or even the new Hollywood movies being released daily. In the Travel section on Africa, the site has Kenya, but where is Tanzania or Uganda? My experience is that suggestions to include new products/items are not heeded.
You have a right to express your thoughts and
Mouthshut.com has provided an opportunity, though as always Web reviews and ratings bring out a particular bias. Reviewers biases are presumably determined by their own personal experience with the product.
Concluding, I would say that
Mouthshut.com is a wonderful site and with improvement could scale more heights and attract more members.
