We had our baby delivered in march 2017 in motherhood. I delivered in 37 weeks, as the baby's weight was more, we had to do the delivery in 37 weeks itself. Till the delivery I was thinking about gynec only - after the delivery only I realised pediatrician side also I should have enquired.Until it was with gynec - it was all fine. The Gynec says 37 is considered full term, but the pediatrician says it is not.Though the baby weight was 3.5, the baby did feed in the first few hours, and it was 37 weeks - the pediatric doctors did not consider as full term and scared us to the core saying baby is breathing fast(it is normal for a few weeks early baby to breath fast, how fast matters) - got our baby admitted to NICU for seven full days, - which outside doctors(my elder one's pediatrician, very efficient) confirmed as completely unnecessary. They dont even say how long it might take, so we can think of alternatives, they keep saying morining we can tlak and then eve we can talk., every day - they will say only what is done and what is planned without any promise of when it will get better or when they can discharge. The entire NICU doctors team played a big drama is what we felt. They do just procedures - not identifying if this baby required all those. So much of antibiotics/ IVs /breathing support - highly painful to see a baby there, when it was NOT AT ALL required. The NICU pediatricians, a team of 6 or 7 of them, just acted like machines doing what ever is there in the protocol without the slightest insight of how the baby is. Every baby is different and will recover or manage differently - the Dr should be smart to identify what this baby requires, instead this team just performed the laid down procedures of the hospital for all babies born before 39 weeks and ensured the bill scored up to Lakhs. Highly disappointed with the hospital and pediatricians. Could not feed the colostrum to my baby because of these Drs, felt very disappointed. Please DONT go - Drs themselves are not in synch - gynec and pediatrician talk differently and confuse us.I feel there is no point in having good infra, good attitude of nurses or all high funda medial support - if the Dr is not efficient to judge what is required to do for a baby.Dr's insight is the biggest thing we need to trust on, and motherhood fails there - and does a big business out of our fear.
