Mocambo is a heaven for people who like continental food. Some of my most loved food on menu are: Fish a la diana, Chicken stroganof, Chicken a la mocambo, Lobster thermidora, Devilled crabs, Chicken a la Kiev, Prawn cocktail and Mango souffle.
The food tastes authentic continental and is not watered down with spices to taste the general Indian food we eat elsewhere. Continental food tend to be hot initially, so one has to be careful. Portion size is apt. Each and every item on the menu looks carefully prepared on the plate. The restaurant also serves Italian and North Indian cuisine.
The ambience is quiet old Calcuttan, wooden chairs with leather upholstery, but the they music they play is a drab. Some of the waiters are not courteous, and service tend to lag a bit in times of rush.
Be prepared to stand in a queue ranging from 30 minutes to an hour on holidays and weekends. I am not sure if they take reservations.
Rest assured, the food will make you happy if you are going to have continental food.
