Well for Starters, Mocambo a restaurant in Calcutta doesnt exactly sound like restaurants in other parts of India or the world, or for that matter doesnt exactly sound like fun.
Mocambo the name itself sounds pretty wierd to state so. Reminds one of the Punch lines ''MOGAMBO KHUSH HUA'' of Amrish Puri in a Very Popular Bollywood PotBoiler.
Located in the First Left Tuck of Park Street, Walking down from the Park Hotel
(Free School Street), Mocambo Restaurant is like a lady who's grown graceful by the day, each passing day seems to make it just that much better, the way one values WINE is how I would describe Mocambo as.
I grew up in Calcutta and in my Early Teens Mocambo in Free School Street (Free School Street) was a place out of bounds for my and my group of friends. Apart from the reputation of Free School street one really couldnt afford going into Mocambo at that point of time in life.
My First visit to Mocambo was when I was 18 and a half years, and I almost put shoe polish to my teeth to ensure that they shine !! A Visit to Mocambo was nothing less than going to one of the best places in Calcutta.
I had the first taste of Chicken ALA KIEV, and it hit me.
Mocambo boasts of a charm which none of the restaurants that I have been to can parallel, this is a place where the cuisine Steaks are simply over-whelming.
I have been to restaurants all over India, Been to some of the finest restaurants but Mocambo holds ground on its own.
For the Discerning connoisseur Mocambo has everything to Offer
Every Time I visit Calcutta, I make it a point to dine at least once in Mocambo, Mocambo Khush Hua !!
