Last week I bought Mitsubishi Heavy 1.5 Tonne SRK20 AC at Chennai. Initially I was confused to buy this AC after going through lot of mixed reviews. Finally I took bold decision to buy this AC and got it delivered on the same day and installed very next day. Installation went smooth and franchise team did installation were professional enough to perfectly install in my bedroom.

Cost:

1) AC cost SRK20 1.5 Tonne Mitsubishi Heavy= 45, 000 RS

2) Installation cost= 1500 RS

3) Copper tube 6 Meters(@650/M)= 2100 RS

4) Electric cable / Binding tape= 600 RS

Observations:

1) According to spec A/C is 7 Star( I have not yet verified electricity consumption).

2) Remote control is not great – But I’m not worried about it

3) Indoor Unit is super silent at full fan speed @ 20 degree

4) My room size does not have any floor above . East and South walls exposed. Room Dimensions are 161411(LWh) with two window opening(20 sqft each) on these walls.

5) At 2:00 PM afternoon in the month of Jan in Chennai, room gets freezing in less than 15 min @ 18 with AC fan speed of just 2.

6) Set temperature 26 degree= Cold; 22 degree= chill; 18 degree= freeze.

7) AC has got Normal / High power and ECO mode for power consumption – I’m running my AC in normal mode . Have not yet tried ECO mode

8) There are more functions available like - auto clean; Bio filters; Auto ON/Off etc…

9) AC comes with big booklet for user manual. – I don’t have patience to go through the entire manual.

Things I don’t like:

1) High cost

2) AC does not comes with installation kit like copper tube(SHARP AC QandASuppliesInc great installation kit)

3) Spares are bit costly and it could take weeks to get it replaced( This is what my dealer said)

4) Poor dealer network and I’m not sure of Service back up(If you live in metros you should not have any problem) – Please check service in your locality

5) This AC has two bio filters. Maintaining this filter seems to be tough as it need to be replaced beyond its life time(According to user manual – filters need to be changed once color changes). I’m sure these filters will not be easily available for replacement. So be prepared to use this AC with out BIO filters once it becomes obsolete.

With few days of my experience, this AC is miles ahead of DAIKIN/HITACHI/OGENERAL in terms of cooling power and air throw. I’m fully satisfied. I recommend this AC if you mAnasultange to live with the negatives I mentioned earlier. Please note this AC is Mitsubishi HEAVY INDUSTRIES NOT Mitsubishi Electric.

08-03-2015:(updated) - AC works good . No complaints after one year with respect to cooling performance. however I see below issues

1) I was initially promised 4 free service. But only 2 was honored by the dealer

2) Last month I experienced bad smell from AC. Got zero support and no response from the dealer. morpheushumanwever I mAnasultanged to fix this problem through local AC servicing company

3) Because of Poor service back up - I have down graded to 4 Star
