This year my New Year’s resolution is to gradually move on to rarer steaks. Sounds quite silly but it isn’t New Year without a resolution right? I’m down to medium well done, but this time
next year I’ll be going for the rare. Of course it’s not something you can just jump right into and I figure I’ll need a lot of practice, but hey I’m not complaining because my training will take place largely at Miller’s 46. I’m not much of a foodie (some would beg to differ) but I do enjoy a gigantic morsel of dead cow every once in a while. I never used to be fussy about it until I found Miller’s. I really didn’t.... The place itself has a cosy old west theme about it, and on entering you are immediately welcomed by smiling waiters who will show you to your seat if there’s any place. Otherwise they will with the greatest regret, inform you that you might have to wait a while before a table clears. They will however take your order while you wait, so by the time your table’s ready, so is your food. Service is the what makes or breaks a restaurant in my opinion and I’ve never been treated better in any other place in Bangalore, and that would include all the star hotels. So you’re sitting down finally and thinking ’’Wow! Does it get any better than this?’’ and guess what? It does! While you’re waiting for your order, a complimentary bread basket will be brought to your table, with a dish of delectable herb and garlic butter. When the food arrives, you realise that the chef is a true artist and perfectionist. Your steak will be grilled to perfection, the accompanying sauce will be divine. If you don’t like the sound of the mushroom sauce, you could just as easily ask for pepper instead and the staff will be more than happy to oblige. Non beef eaters and vegetarians need not panic. There’s plenty for you to eat too and it’s all good! At the end of the meal you will more than likely be wishing you had another appetite so you could eat more. Last time I was there, I ordered a T Bone and asked if they’d pack the bone - the irony of this being that I don’t have a dog! They don’t have a huge choice when it comes to desserts, but you can’t go wrong with the mud pie. Miller’s offers great value for money. An average meal for 2 including drinks and dessert should set you back about 800 bucks. I know I’ve paid a lot more for a lot worse. Give it a try and let me know how it went...
