Story:

Its magic realism at its best. but one needs to be above average in english( at least by indian standards) to be able to understand the novel. takes the reader far back in time( 1915 to be precise) where the story begins and ends around 1979. its a first person narrative of a muslim boy Saleem Sinai but the story begins with his maternal grandfather and covers the entire Indian subcontinent.

The author seems to be not only well read but also well travelled. its impossible to digest the book in a day. May take a week.  Weighty stuff.
