Story:

The beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. It is an adage we all have heard from time to time. The beauty is not to be seen but to be felt, and not many of us can expertly define beauty. Dinesh Gupta with his first book tries to do so.  He has written poetry to define this beauty that he sees in the world.

The book is a collection of poetry, shayris, and articles he has written on this subject. It is not an ode to beauty only, he has also written poems on corruption, the times we are living in, and how the society has changed. He decided to pen these thoughts due to the inner turmoil and the turmoil outside that he witnessed.

The poem “Diya Antim Aas Ka” describes the plight of the soldiers and how much they sacrifice for the country without feeling the pinch of the fact that their country is failing them. The essence of patriotism is portrayed with much perfection and the lines touch your heart with the same way when you see a movie based on the forces.

It is not only this poem but many others were there which made me see the world in a different light, especially the ones on the country. He has managed to bring rawness to his poems while maintaining the rhyme and rhythm of the poems. The shayris are mostly on the beauty of a girl and the love between two people and the perception of the author about the same. The book has a rustic appeal to it, and the poems are written in simple language.

For a first timer, the book is nice and also the effort he has put in is commendable. He not only writes in his forte that is the “Shrangar Ras” but also in different emotions which is praiseworthy. He has also given much time in making sure all the poems or shayris are well edited, and you can read the book any number of times and still like it.

Dinesh Gupta manages to keep you going on till you finish the last of his poems and go through once or twice again, just to read your favourite poems. It is a pleasant experience and a nice collection for a debutant.
