Hey Friends,

Memories of Midnight is a sequel toThe Other Side of Midnight. So even before starting the review of this book I would suggest that you read ?The other side of Midnight?, other wise you will not be able make out much from this novel. Because there are some things that you will not be able to understand unless you know what happened before.

So read the prequel first, or at least the review of the novel (I have written one, you can browse through the sections).

Now, if you know what the story is and where it ended in ?The other side of Midnight?, it starts from precisely the same place in Memories of Midnight.

Catherine Douglas is saved by Constantine Demiris as we know and is hid in a monastery. Now the story starts from that monastery. Fortunately Catherine has lost her memory and she not knows anything about her previous life. However she gets a dream constantly in which two people are trying to drown her in a big lake on a dark moonless night. As she drowns she screams and gets up.

Now after spending some time in with the nuns, she is keen to discover herself. She goes to the head nun. She sends a word to Constantine. Realizing that she cannot be kept alive for a long time, Demiris sends for her. He is a very ruthless man. He intends to take his revenge from Larry?s wife too, so he plans that he will make love with Larry?s wife in the same place where Larry made with her beloved Noelle. Then he will kill her also thus satisfied in his revenge. In my personal view, such people if they exist, are mentally sick and need treatment. Also they are very dangerous.

However, anything is permitted in fiction I suppose.

So he calls for Cathy. She goes to his villa, she recognizes the place but she not know why? She gets a feeling that she has been there. Now Demiris narrates a long story to Cathy that her husband was a pilot for him and he died and stuff like that and now Demiris offers Cathy an attractive job in London. She accepts the job and feels grateful to Demiris.

She moves to London, but before going to London she decides to roam around in Rome. She goes through the market and finds everything amazingly familiar, like she has been there before.

Now she moves to London, but her dreams haunt her and she keeps getting recalls of her life. Like she was living a new life and memories of her previous life were haunting her.

But she makes good friends in London.

Demiris now plans to move for the kill and starts her attempts to seduce Cathy.

Meanwhile the great trial lawyer Napoleon Chotas reappears from here exile, Demiris thought him to be dead. He is an important person because he was the one who was the lawyer of Noelle during her murder trial and he was the one who was part of the conspiracy to betray Noelle into confessing her crime to jury because there was no way it could be proved. Napoleon was feeling burdened because of this, he loved Noelle and he made her go to her deathbed. Demiris tried to remove Chotas but he escaped.

He emerges because now Demiris is in prison and he is charged with murder of his wife!! Amazed, wait there is more to come. All this is because Demiris is not on good terms with his brother in law and he ill treats her wife. Accidentally, his brother in law comes to know that Cathy is still alive, that Noelle and Larry were executed for a person still alive. He tells this to his sister, the wife of Demiris. When Constantine discovers that his best kept secret is not a secret at all, he becomes pale.

His wife feels devastated and he becomes aware of the plan her husband is making to destroy her brother. She is completely broken.

Now, wife of Demiris plans a very extraordinary thing. In fact, she executes the whole thing. She murders herself, she commits suicide, but she makes that whole thing look like Constantine has murdered her. She plans meticulously, all the evidence are against Demiris, there are just two things that can save him, one the statement of his brother in law that Demiris was with him during the time murder was committed (which Demiris really was) and the other thing is Napoleon Chotas.

So now, his brother in law gives statement is court of law, that saves Demiris, but in return Demiris has to give all his empire to his brother in law. Napoleon makes it sure that Demiris is released from the trial. When assured he will be acquitted off the charge, he orders his team of four members all four being professionals to go London and with them goes a professional assassin to kill Cathy so that no one blackmail him further.

They try to kill Cathy there, but she is able to save herself. How, you better read for yourself?

But you must be thinking that Demiris tried to kill Chotas, then why did Chotas save him. (It was Chotas who stuck the deal with Demiris?s brother in law to save him).

The answer is simple ? to kill Demiris. Chotas kills Demiris and himself by flying a car off a mountain in which they were driving, after the court had acquitted Demiris.

Well, all ends well, Demiris dead, his wife dead, his brother in law now the richest man in world, Cathy happy with her boyfriend.

One hell of a read this one was. And you might feel you know the story after you read this novel but I still suggest that you read the novel because above what you got was just a trailer of the story.

If The other side of Midnight was a roller coaster ride, I don?t know what this was, perhaps a rocket ride to the moon. I am spellbound, go and read for yourself.

This combo of two novels ? The other side of Midnight and Memories of Midnight, they are just great, this is Sidney at his best. It can?t get better that this.

And if gets better than this, I don?t know, I might get a heart attack reading better stuff than this.

Full value for your money and time.

Recommended.
