The Marathi Cinema is changing, its growing highly and highly and one example which would describe it best is Mahesh Manjrekar's MI SHIVAJI RAJE BOLTOY. Watch this one to learn a lesson in life about your culture, your success, to make a ray of hope in your life and to develop unity! It's not only for the Maharashtrians, but for all the Indians who think thier life and thier culture is lacking backwardness. This movie will change your thoughts. It straighly touches your heart.
Dinkar Bhosale(Sachin Khedekar) has been looked down upon all his life and his problems seem endless- a shrewd builder tries to get him ousted from his residence at any cost and deport the family to Badlapur, his daughter wants to legally change her “downmarket” name, his son cannot get into engineering college- and they all somehow connect to the fact that he is born a Marathi. Frustrated at the lack of respect and empathy he comes to these conclusions
1) Being born a Marathi is like paying for past sins
2) There’s no meaning in speaking the language or even speaking to fellow-Marathis
3) All Marathis should marry non-Marathis or legally change their names.
Somewhere inside his fort Shivaji Raje hears this insolence and sets out to teach Bhosale a lesson.
MI SHIVAJI RAJE BHOSALE BOLTOY has no minuses in it because it is full of pluses and entertainment. No! It is beyond entertainment. Many films in Bollywood are beyond entertainment but most of them fail to click at the Box-Office. But this one being a regional film, is a full-fledged message giving film. The story itself reminds you your own life which is full of ups and downs and this type of life is for everyone of us. The story is fictious yet looks realistic because it is presented in a real way. Each and Every part of the film touches your heart, and you think something is alive in your hearts.
Sachin Khedekar will now be remembered by this film. He shows an undeniable role of a common marathi man which is found in all common people. What likes you is his simplistic presentation.
Mahesh Manjrekar proves that he is one the best Indian actors after this film. Though in the begining, you think he is old, he shares a poerful perfomance.
All the supporting cast is excellent. Music is good.
Direction has been perfectly done and a special mention for it.
