For a long time, I had the impression that
stick foundations would streak the face and wouldn?t blend easily- especially after reading a consultation review by an eminent make up artist in a magazine.
According to him, stick foundations are best used as they look, as a crayon (a very well packaged one at that!) as it looks too heavy and made up on the face.
Regardless of that review- my tendencies of trying out all things new in this department were too strong to actually believe him, and so I bought myself a
Maybelline Express Finish 3 in 1 foundation, concealer and compact stick with SPF 15 and oil free (!).
Inspite of how heavy it sounds - foundation and concealer and compact and a sunscreen formulation- you?d probably expect a thick goopy residue like paste stuck on your face?.until you try it. All one needs to do is clean the face well, use your regular moisturizer and wait a few moments till the facial skin absorbs it. And then holding the stick like you would a pen, just roll it onto the areas where you might require coverage, and blend with your finger tips. It settles in less than a minute, giving your face a sheer matte look that is so natural looking that it looks and feels like no make up at all- it?s that light weight.
It?s a great product when all you want is a natural even toned appearance, so probably if one is looking for heavier coverage this may not be the right tool. The stick is fragrance free, creamy in texture but not on the face as after application it turns powdery and matte. Best of all, your skins feels and looks to be hydrated and not masked, and its sheer enough for your natural colour (glow) to show through. It comes in a small crayon type package that?s very convenient to carry and apply anywhere, with or without a mirror.
(I?ve also heard that like most other foundations, liquid and cream, it behaves best when refrigerated prior to use, or for storage- somebody will have to tell me If that is true though)
