I am not a regular wearer of mascara so was very shocked finding myself at the makeup section at my local supermarket. Any one who has a teenage daughter knows the problem you have when going to get your makeup only to find it gone. That was the predicament I found myself in and needed to buy some more.

I was drawn to Maybelline Great Lash waterproof (or Jade as they call it here in Germany) because of its flourescent pink tube, with black screw lid. It was only available in brown and black, but that was ok as I have dark eyes anyway.

I am always warey when purchasing any sort of mascara, but was even more uncertain of this one as it doesn’t come in a box of any sort and just sat there with lots of others. Well I had to chose one from the back of the rows as I didn’t want one that every other customer might have used as a tester.

Maybe the lack of packaging is why this product is rather cheap. I paid 2.50 Euros (1.50GBP) for this 12.5 ml tube.

On removing the lid I saw a 2 and a half inch long wand with the brush taking up half an inch of this. The brush in my opinion didnt appear to contain any mascara so was very surprised when I first applied this to my lashes as it went on very well and I saw an instant difference to my lashes.

There was no miracle lengthening of my lashes, which are very short, but there was a definate thickening and curling which looked very attractive and not at all clumpy. my lashes looked silky even after the mascara had dried.

As for its efficiency as far as being waterproof is concerened, well this mascara gets 10 out of 10 as it lasted 5 days without flaking or washing off and there was a noticeable lack of black eyes in the morning.

A very affordable, longlasting and waterproof mascara which I will definately be buying again and can only highly recommend to anyone who, like me, have short eyelashes.
