Matheran is located very close to Mumbai.
Being very close to Karjat this place is easily accessible through central rail line. You can take a toy train from Neral station or you can take a cab to reach Matheran from Neral
The cab will leave you 2 kms before Matheran. This hill station has a unique distinction of being eco sensitive ie no vehicles are allowed here. Only manual rickshaw horses are used for transportation.
Couple of best points are Echo point, Lausia point & Lake point. No need to visit all the points as they offer same type of valley views.
We stayed at Rangoli retreat hotel. This place was close to Matheran railway station. During monsoons rail line from neral to matheran is off. You need to reach till aman lodge station and from there there is a toy train till Matheran. Its one of the best hill station near mumbai.
