Dear All
Lets celebrate Maruti Swift diesel. Its going to be around 8 months and i have run this goddamn beauty around 25000 kms. I am proud to say that the car is damn bloody awesome. Well this
is a new language of happiness. Please don’t mind.
Now, lets be serious !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First the cons:
1. Niggling voice in inner cabin is still there which makes you feel irritating sometimes that when its such a good car then why this small problem had not been taken care of.
2. The tyres width must be more for better handling of the car. Its good at present but it would have been brilliant if this issue had been taken care of well.
3. Spare parts are costly.
4. A lot of plastic has been used in the car which makes a big dent in your pocket while claiming insurance. I saw few incidents, that’s why saying so.
5. Becasue of designing one cant predict the corners of car so as to avoid touching to outside source
Now comes the Pros:
1. Fantastic mileage I must say. i travel around 100 kms everyday and i m getting in between 20 to 22 kms per liter mixing both highway and city driving but AC off and with AC on you can reduce it to 2 kms per liter.
Petrol cars cost you 2.5 times more in terms fuel cost per km. Now if i run 10000 kms petrol car and 10000 kms diesel car then I save around Rs. 25000 per 10000 kms.
Paid service costs u around Rs 3000/- for diesel and Rs 1200/- for petrol means extra of Rs. 1800/- per service
But
25000-1800= Rs. 23200/- saving per 10000 kms
2. The engine is awesome. You never feel that you are driving a diesel car.
3. The power is powerful. I have a hyndai santro, ford ikon, and honda city but after driving swift diesel, I never wana drive petrol car. In every aspect like city driving, highway driving, full load, semi load, traffic jams etc; you always get better pickup, performance, fuel efficiency and style.
4. Because of more sheet metal and less glass, the car looks cramped but trust me, its a huge space inside. 5 people sit with very ease but yes they feel as if they are sitting in a cramped car. But that’s just a feel to feel.
5. Seats are sofas. You never feel tired. Big width, big cushions, quality cushioning, its damn awesome.
6. All the electronic and electrical equipments are working well. No problem till now.
7. Try to control yoouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuur emotions while driving because driving this beauty at 120 or 130 is like driving at 60 or 70 km per hour. You always feel that car is running slow and try to run it faster. It’s just out of this world.
But hey “saavdhani hati, durghatna ghati" do keep this in mind always.
I saw lot of diesel swifts in the service centre who were accidental. I thought that may be there is some flaw in braking and i got bit tensed about it. when I asked them the reason then they said smiling " control he nahi hotaji" means all the accidental cars which I saw there were because of very high speed driving. There was no other reason.
Well, that’s all for now. Will post another post when i will reach 40000 kms.
Take care till then, happy reading and happy driving.
Regards
Rahul Gupta
Very Nice care, posted on 20-05-2008
My name is Rahul Gupta and i am working with a leading real estate company as manager-marketing. so, i am always on tours, thats y i needed a car which gives a good mileage, strong build as well as low cost in running and maintainence.
I had 5 options in diesel such as :
1. Maruti suzuki swift
2. Tata Indica
3. Fiat palio
4. Ford Fusion
5. Hyundai Getz
But i opted for maruti swift vdi model. I have run so far 1200kms. before first service the car was giving the milage of 18.5 kms with 50% city and 50% highway running. After first service i.e. 1000kms the car is giving 21.5 kms per ltr.
*Handling is good.
*Space is good.
*Seating is high.
*It doesnt give a feel that u r driving a diesel car, very less noise.
*At 2000 rpm the turbo works so effectively as if someone has just bite u and u r running at ur max.
*Looks good
*Seats are big
*nice and clean interior
*Becasue its maruti, so i do think thats it gona be low cost in maintainence
*steering cutting is fantastic
*Head lights are not much effective
*Becasue of designing one cant predict the corners of car so as to avoid touching to outside source
*tyres width is less, so on high speeds theres a bit issue of skidding, so it is advisable to go in for more wide tyres than provided by the company
*niggling problems in doors
In nutsheel, a fatastic car.
More timely reviews will be posted as per the experience with the car
