I drove the Zen Estilo only for a few kilometers and these were only my personal
impressions.
I drive Indica DLG(two year old) and I drove it to very long distances including a driving episode of non-stop driving for 7 and half hours without any problems.
So it is imperative that a comparison would creep in to this review.
Zen Estilo that I tested with an intention to buy was about 6 months old one(may be a little less than that.) It was regularly driven by an engineering college student.
The Zen estilo seemed to be well behaved engine with a very high maneuverability and this is the reason you feel it easy to drive in thick traffic like that of Hyderabad.
The reasons I could not like this car is that the gear box is a total mess. I felt that the gear rod is like a stick in a bucket of water! It moves, gives a feeling that it can rotate circularly!
It gave a very horrible impression that the engineering is that of terribly poor quality. That said, the interior do not give any impression of a class. They are very cheap. I do not think that the sound proof quality is that good. You hear lot of noise.
When I drove it on highway I felt that the car is jumping when I changed the gear. I am not a mechanical engineer but I felt that the clutch plates were gone but that is in just six months?
The whole car was rattling but particularly, one of the back door glass was visibly shaking.
The only good quality seems to be its maneuvarability, and the vision of the road it provides to the driver.
I got the feeling, that in yet one more year the car would become as worse as a tin box.
What is the long term viability of this car? That indeed is questionable.
The car do not inspire any confidence of sturdiness, or any impression of a weighted feeling of steering. However, you can say that steering is very accurate.
On long journeys Estilo probably gives you a back pain as well, because the sitting position(at steering wheel) is definitely not ergonomic .
If you ask me about the pick up, there is nothing wonderful about it. My diesel indica gives me the same pick up in the traffic. There is nothing specific about Estilo's pickup.
Yes, it is smooth. That is right.
Nobody on the road, I mean the commuters on the road, care to take notice of your Estilo and gives side to you or move away. You have no road presence at all. And additionally, driving Estillo will not give you any identity of a professional driver sitting at the feel .
Frankily speaking I decided never to buy this little Estillo.
