Bought a White A-Star Automatic in December 2012, I bought this car because of pathetic traffic in Pune. I didn't like the looks of the car much when we were trying to buy but the decision was very easy to make coz it was >70, 000 cheaper than Hyundai i10 Sportz Automatic/Honda Brio S Automatic & 2 lakh cheaper than Hyundai i10 Asta Automatic & Honda Brio V automatic.
Now, after driving this car for about 13, 000km & i'm in love with it. Not because its cheap, but because of the comfort it offers & the fact that this car is totally fun to drive. I mean who wants to shift gears if you have nice little, peppy automatic car? especially in the city? Also on the Highway, this car is lot of fun once you get used to the throttle response with A/C & without A/C.
I drove this car from Pune-Bangalore-Nellore-Bangalore-Pune( roughly 2500km) Pune-Hyderabad-Nellore-Bangalore-Pune( Approx.2500 km) & trust me the drive was damn relaxing. Overtaking was just a breeze, put the pedal to the metal & the car worries about it while you can relax. I don't care if this car doesn't give good Fuel efficiency.
10-12kmpl( City) & 20kmpl w/o A/C, 17-18kmpl with & w/o A/C & 15-16kmpl with A/C( highway)
I can live with a 10kmpl. U get ABS( not available on Hyundai i10 Sportz Automatic/Honda Brio S Automatic) which can be life saving in an Automatic car.
But, meant only for 2 adults( >5ft 5") like any other hatchback & Tilt steering would have been nice coz the steering column feels high if u want to push the seat way back like I do & drive in a relaxed way!
But, you can't expect too much for just 5lacs!
I heard lot of people complain about the rear legroom in this car. You need to accept that no matter what hatchback you buy except Chevrolet Sail you will always have a rear legroom issue when a 6ft guy is driving! A-Star seats are really fat with lots of foam which give you nice body support for long journey.
Overall this car is total value for money! Period.
Let me put down some facts here:
Pros:
1) Its the cheapest Automatic car available & reliable.
2) Fuel efficiency is great compared to other automatic cars.
3) Well, regarding space, its great for a young couple & their kids!
4) Fun to drive.
5) Great after sales service.
6) Great comfort especially the seats give a good thigh, back & overall body support.
7) Music player with Aux/USB/CD/FM & 2 speakers with great sound.
8) 50: 50 folding rear seats.
9) 2 trip meters.
10) 4 bottle holders.
11) ABS
12) CATS immobilizer.
13) Very effective Air-conditioner!
Cons:
1) No option for Tilt Steering
2) Getting in & out of the vehicle is difficult.
2) No rear defogger.
3) No rear wash wiper.
4) No rear speakers.
5) Skinny tyres.
6) Less all around visibility.
7) No central locking & security alarm.
8) Not enough boot space.
9) No fog lamps.
