Back in 1983, when Maruti launched India's first hatchback called Maruti Suzuki 800 it created a revolution in indian automotive industry. It was termed as the People's Car. Back then it was very cheap.
The most special highlight of the car was it's compact and advanced design which attracted the attention of all. All other cars like the Ambassador were bulky and heavy. But, 800 was cost effective, compact and light weight.
We have a 2012 model Maruti 800 AC at home and it runs fine like a horse. It's simple design and best in class mileage is perfect for driving in a city. It also has a high speed capacity above 140 kmph loaded with a powerful 5 speed gearbox and 2 valve per cylinder engine. It is one of the favourite cars of indian people as it is highly reliable and easy to drive. Infact, Maruti shouldn't have stopped manufacturing the hatchback.
