No visit to Pune is complete without a visit to Manneys. Manneys Book Sellers is an institution in itself. I remember visiting it during my school days in the sixties, when it was located in a charming colonial bungalow next to the then West End Cinema with its famous Soda Fountain.

Now it is located in a modern building at the same place on Moledina Road in Pune Camp near the crossing with Main Street (MG Road), and your visit to Pune Camp, apart from shopping on MG Road, Shrewsbury biscuits from Kayani, a bite at Marzorin, Sev Burfi at Bhavnagri's, Wafers at Budhanis, Biryani at Dorabjees and a cup of Tea at Naaz must include a browse at Manneys.

The first thing that you see when you enter is the latest Bestsellers kept on a table right in front of you for an initial perusal. Move right to the philosophy and spiritual section and you will be amazed at the range and variety of books. Then on to the Reference Books on all subjects , especially english language and literature. ( When I wanted the Rogers Thesaurus I rushed to Manneys!).

Manneys has arguably the best collection of Military Literature ( Probably even more comprehensive than the bookshops at Dehra Dun which publish and stock Military Books). Browse through the biographies and the History section before you move on to the Fiction and Children's sections. The collection on hobbies is impressive too. You want books on dogs, pets - head for Manneys.
