MIT Affiliated to Manipal University is one of premier private institutes in India behind of BITS Pilani, VIT Vellore, BIT Mesra etc kind of institutes but always tries to show off as the best private institute. Its ranking in NIRF ranking is #39 behind of BITS, VIT, Mesra( Which is the actual ranking framework to be followed for accurate comparisons) kinds of institutes, that too, many institutes haven't registered for the 2016 and 2017 ranking. If all the institutes would have registered MIT would have been pushed even further back.
Its lack of good ranking, although being a part of a University( which has branches in Sikkim, Jaipur, Dubai and Malaysia) is totally justified.
Some of the reasons are as follows:
1) lack of good and maintained equipment
2) lack of good labs and its instruments
3) lack of good guidance
4) while being in MIT Manipal feels like you are totally isolated ffrom the rest of the world and always seem to be in a dream i.e. professors don't even give the actual ground reality.
5) almost zero association with any private companies or organizations so that students can be sent for well qualified and good internships and vocational training and get good industry exposure.
6) Research by senior management is not encouraged but the policies put in place actually discourage research. Many reaching staffs have actually complained but their call is not respected.
7) No financial help to low income class and under privileged families.
8) Huge student intake and lab seat is less.
9) Student intake is huge, so least attention is given to each student which means they are devoid of motivation and don't understand their weakness to the fullest.
10) Minimum trees in the campus so it is extremely hot all around the year. No shelter from Sun and rain is provided at all along the path to the class. Basically there is only summer season in Manipal. In actual summer season along with extreme heat there is bright sunlight, it is so bright that it looks like a constant flash of a photographic camera around Noon.
11) Extremely high fees. It is so excessively high that I have no excess money to study again in any private college to do my research or to do MBA in any institute or to do masters in any private college.
12) Poor placement
13) branches except Mechanical, IT, Computer Science, Electronocs and Electricals have extremely poor opportunity.
14) Some vary self obsessed and arrogant or Spoiled or thug students can be found so finding right friends can be problematic in 1st and 2nd year.
15) OK OK Faculty some bad faculties present too
16) More class hours, but corresponding output is not upto the mark
etc
Coming to GOOD things in MIT Manipal:
1) Diversity
2) All Kinds of food available
3) Great places to visit and they are closer than you think
4) Cultural mix up is encouraged
5) students are encouraged to take up their hobbies
6) No ragging
7) Many kinds of students can be found so finding friends is easy but finding good friends becomes tricky
8) Booze is famous but so is drugs:D
9) late entry allowed to girls but doing so can be a headache for herself but for accompanying boys it's not so much .:D:D
10) Many party places and restaurants available
11) Students of all different streams, study fields and graduations are found in one place- engineers, Doctors, Chefs, Banking graduates, Scholars etc.
12) Teaching staffs are patient and generally listen to the queries and generally talk patiently. Some professors are extremely good too.
13) Basic commodities available in the campus both for males and females( unlike North East Colleges)
14) Good, Better and excellent hostels with NON AC and AC rooms available but too costly
15) Regular Cleanups at hostels and lecture halls
16) Good classrooms with ac and good furniture. Boys and girls are allowed to sit side by side and together.
17) Big campus with somewhat OK WIFI available( but wifi routers often face problems)
18) outside the classrooms there is peace of mind and inside the class, there is good competition among students
19) Transport facility is available and students are allowed to use bicycles to move in between the classes and hostels, however most prefer to walk
20) At night, you can find many couples roaming around holding hands and some smooching too, so you can understand there are many female students and may be you can find love or even life partner in MIT Manipal or around.
etc
