My father is admitted to hospital on 30th March 2016 and discharged on 4th April 2016. During these days he was kept in ICU for 1 day.
They uses different sizes of the masks until it fits correctly and they charge for each one of them, instead of using the correct size mask(each NIV mask cost 3040). The total bill had come for 131226/- out of which the insurance company approve only 87068/-(I have 10% Co-pay).
The reason insurance company is giving is no where the hospital bill mentioned as ICU and ideally bed charges should be clubbed with nursing charges, as no mention of ICU and separate nursing charges have crossed average per day bed charge limit of 4000/-. They are not paying16, 000/-, which is utter irresponsibility of the hospital. Being Manipal hospital, we expect their staff is aware of handling the bill properly, but I only realize that they are only trained to mint patient mint patients mint patients. Hope this will give some awareness to the people who will be cautious and checked their bills properly every day, otherwise the patient has to ay the cost through out, irrespective of whether they have insurance or not.

Prasad.
