When History meets proud folklores, Legends are born

I went to watch this movie alone....as my friends had already told me that this movie is not all that Hype it created.

Anyway, I liked the movie....(critics are always welcome!). Amir khan as usual made sure that he lives the character larger-than-life! All the other characters have done pure justice with their roles, give and take certain iotas of cleavages shown.

I really appreciate the efforts, it must have been tough making a three hour (or may be more) movie on a character who has till date only been referred as a one line hero. Even in my history chapters or in ’’Discovery of India’’ by nehru, mangal pandey has a strong but very short lived description. hence, all the masala added to the movie is justified as it must have become a necessity for Amir. But accolades as all this does not slower the pace of the movie!

The only thing that hit me in the movie was the lack of ’’KICK’’. I never felt the rush of blood through any ...but one scene.. that was ironically the scene in which Mangal gets hanged, which seemingly mobilizes the mob! Halla Bol...!!!!

Credibility of the story is not something, which should be questioned at this stage, when we all know that there was nothing much in terms of record of our Mutiny hero. Some say that mangal was involved with a married bengali women and used to visit her home, as he was head strong! Love is blind...

All said and done.....this is not a mass movie and shorts fall by few inches to qualify as a pure act of Class too. Also, as we already go with the mind set that the 1857 mutiny was not a success and our heros died mostly betrayed by our own short sighted or power monger countrymen!!!

I have adored history right from my school days. And would like to watch it again, if that helps our Mangal pandey cover the cost of the movie. :)
