Glenfiddich is the biggest selling single malt whisky in the world and is exported to numerous countries’including the USA., Malaysia, Japan, Australia and India.. The chances are that if you
were to ask an experienced single malt whisky drinker, which brand you should kick off with, they will say try Glenfiddich.

Glenfiddich has been satisfying whisky drinkers since the first produce came out from the distillery owned by William Grant & Sons back in 1867. It takes its name from the river Fiddich in Dufftown, Speyside, in Scotland, where the distillery is located.

Glenfiddich Special Reserve 12 year old has an alcohol by volume content (ABV) of 40 % and its nose is light, fresh but rather sweet and satisfying with more than a subtle hint of pears. It has a rich fruity flavor with a hint of peatiness. Glenfiddich has a somewhat light, lean, fresh and smooth body, and a long lasting aftertaste. Color wise it pours to a pale amber color and can be drunk neat or on the rocks.

It is a excellent single malt for the newcomer to wean themselves on, although even its greatest supporters would not claim it to be the finest of all single malts. Another huge plus point is that it is very widely available in pubs, in supermarkets and in the off trade. Virtually all the big off licence chains stock it and so too do most duty free shops at international airports. Prices range quite widely but you could probably get a 70 cl bottle on special offers for around US$25. I have never believed whisky to be the ideal drink to have with food but a glass or two of Glenfiddich before your meal is OK.

Summing up then Glenfiddich Special Reserve is a renowned single malt from Speyside which has been agrressively marketed all over the world by its distiller, William Grant & Sons, and today is internationally the most popular single malt whisky. It is a product that you will easily come across and is utterly reliable. A good single malt for beginners !

Thanks very much for reading !
