Malgudi Days - R.K.Narayan. This book was published in the years 1935, a year during the struggle of the British forces in India, trying to overpower the Indians and torturing and being brutal in their punishment. They left no man, women or child against their evil forces. This book is set in a small village -MALGUDI and is from the perspective of a tender and innocent child SWAMI.
The innocence of this child is beautifully portrayed and the readers sheds tears whenever they read this book, Swami's child pranks his childhood games like paper boat and his friends are narrated in a manner that every child when he reads this book feel part of the character of Swami.
The cruel education system, punishing the children at small pranks cane and humilating them, heavy work load and the teachers way of approach to the children, the teacher is a bristish man and the cruelty with which he tortures the children is heart rending.
Despite all this, Swami overcomes many hurdles and difficulties with help of his friend.
