Being goaded by readers to write a long review, I am going to attempt to write a long one.

This little eatery situated little off North Main Road, is a visit must for every foodie. I have visited
this over the last one and half year and always have gone back for more. *A word of caution a spicy thai preparation can be really really spicy. So ’’medium-spicy’’ is the word*

:> The menu card items range from Thai, Malaysian. Singaporean. Try salad (that looks and tastes a little like Khimchi) made up of cauliflower, carrots, garlic (I am told some israeli next-door makes it). Tom Ka pak is a recommended thai soup. This saffron brown soup has mix of vegetables, mashrooms and some thai spices like galangal. This one is a feast to taste buds. I have had Laksa soup and also one from Singapore and all have been simply great.

:> Choose Thai, Malaysian or Singapore Curry to go with delicious coriander rice. If your curry is Malaysian, try a Roti Kanai (2 pieces) with it. Kari Kapitan is also available as a starter. Top this up with Honey Ginger Lemon water or Tea brewed to perfection. You can have this stimulating, digestive drink before or after your meal.

:> Even newbie to Thai food can get help from Stewart Dennis. This tall, lanky gentleman will take care of your order as per your choice. He remembers the food you had last time :-) so you can repeat what u had or go for a new recommendation. All the staff is very well-trained and courteous.

:> They do a have great selection of wines, both Indian and Imported. To top it all, the menu card suggests combination of wines and food that goes with it. I did see Chardonnay and Merlot on the card. It was a shame that I could not drink some, today being the republic day.

:> Let this be your initiation in gourmet eating. Whenever I want to treat a close friend, colleague to great food, we head to Malaka Spice. The restaurant is well-lit and there is always a painting exhibition on the wall. To sum it up, this is the best place to go if your spirits are high and you want to soak in colors, eat the best food, with a Worldspace radio music blaring in the background.

:> Each course is worth it and you can have a bowl of Thai soup, tiger prawns (new
introduction) for starters, Malaysian Curry, Coriander rice, Roti Kanai and a cup of hot steaming tea or water - all for Rs 500/- This is feeling enough for two people. All portions are big, it is recommended you don’t place a lot of orders, unless you want to take a doggy bag home :-).

I guess the restaurant is popular with Koregaon crowd and would be crowded in the evenings. So make it a lunch date as I usually do.

Thank God for spice (that is life)! And Thank god for Malaka Spice!!!
