Life may not be all that Simple. But, all of us would surely crave for more simplicity. Isn't it! Well, if you are on a ''Look-out'' for a typical idyllic picture-of-perfection, then race towards the nearest theatre showing Makdee. For it is as freshening as the silken evening sea breezing towards the Bandstand rocks.

Now, I must confess, I'm a movie buff to the hardest core. And maybe, to justify the same I ended up floundering my Eid festivities by watching two of the most inane movies of all times: Rishtey and Karz. Each worse than the other. I thought tiredly, man, these guys have really lost it big time.

I must say a small film like Makdee redeems my faith in good cinema. A cinema that appeals to a wide section of society. And yes, Saif Bhai, this less-than-two hour flick has earned applause at the box office. For a fourth week at Bandra's Suburbia Theatre was more than half full. And for a 1 crore movie that's a very positive sign.

Chunni is a 'chaalu-girl' who is upto pranks at many an odd hour. She'd love to have the Sunday's holiday being extended to Monday. Kallu Khasai is subjected to frequent nightmares for Chunni and her friend Mughle Azam (What a name!) keep him on the run most of the times.

Munni, the twin sister, is the prim-n-propah replica. Good in studies, cynosure of everybody's eyes. But, 'unfortunately' she ends up being on the receiving end of her sister's masti. And the terrible happens when Munni ends up as a captive in the hands of the Witch. Chunni realises her fault and begs the ''Chudail'' to give back her sister.

Now, the rest of the 'tail' is for you to follow and find out for yourself. I can assure you, once you've sat through this brilliant-n-simple film, you'd come out felling chirpy-n-smiling.

Music director turned Film Producer-Director Vishal Bharadwaj surprises tremendously. In the worst year for the Film Industry, he springs up quite-a-surprise. A quality film having a nostalgic feel of the childhood days when the grandmoms told those fantasy-prone stories. And for that, he hasn' gone to the lovely Swiss Alps, but close-to-Mumbai Alibaug and Goa. Cost-effectiveness pays when you are not compromising on the ethics of the story-n-performance.

As expected, music of the film is scintillating. Panga na le, Mai, Chutti Hai are simply out of this world. I would pick Mai as my personal favourite. For the lyrics by Gulzar are pristine, music arrangements touch many a chords with the soul and it is actually sung by a child artiste with amazing poise.

The cast acts naturally and flawlessly. Shweta Prasad as Chunni-Munni deserves eyes-wide-open applause. Shabana Azmi as the Witch is Amazing. A role I'm sure will remain close to he heart. Makarand Deshpande as the Khasai and Mughle Azam, the friend have their moments too.

Makdee, Let the Web of Magic ensnare you. Today!
