Bought Samsung WA80P1B in 2007, it came with 2 years warranty and promptly on completion of 2 years the motor and gear box failed(as per Samsung service). The repair bill was quoted more than 50% of purchase price and after some negotiation Samsung was kind enough to reduce the bill. Now after another 2 years there is another failure of the control panel so apart from the container/tub everything has been changed in 4 years!
This contrasts with experience with 3 previous washing machines of various degrees of sophistication, last being Videocon - while the machine was good, the service was horrible with the service technician being highly incompetent / poor ethics. To avoid their service, we switched to Godrej for servicing which was good as long as it lasted.
Looking now for some reliable washing machine which will work with need for service for at least 5-6 years.
