I own 2002 DX Launch model Scorpio. A lot has changed in the Scorpio since my purchase. The engine belt drive changed to chain drive and now the 2.6 crde.
The power steering shaft has also undergone some changes, I replaced it with the new one available. It has reduced road vibrations that u feel on your hands while driving.
The things that I find exceptional about the scorpio 1. Rock solid reliability 2. Low cost of maintenance & service.
There is nothing exceptional about the ride quality, since the rear has eliptical leaf springs.
I service my Scorpio at Cochin. Since there is only one dealer for Kerala, competition for providing better service is not a criteria. I say this because I also own Hyundai Accent CRDI. Since there are 2 service agents in Central Kerala (MGF & Popular) for Hyundai there is intense competition among them to retain clients for vehicle service.
Coming back to Scorpio, spares for the older models are not available. I have ordered some parts by express courier through the TVS Service centre, Cochin 3 weeks ago & still no sign of them arriving yet. Beware 4 years down the line new scorpio owners!!
