I have already test driven Scorpio twice...and yet I cant make up my mind. There are certain things which I simply adore abt the car and then there are things which just keep bothering me. As far as the pros are concerned, its the SUV thing that has really got me hooked. Ya ya I know its not a true SUV but its the closest I can afford at this stage. Plus, the road presence this vehicle commands is amazing. The steering seems a bit on the heavier side, but I guess thats expected of an SUV or a SUV wannabe. As far as pick up is concerned, well its nothing that will get you excited but its reasonable given the size and weight of the monster. The interiors are decent and the car seems comfortable even on the Delhi potholes.
Now coming to the cons, I am really worried about its handling. The entire car moves and heaves if you go over really bad roads. Now I am not sure what should be expected of a 9 Lakh SUV wannabe but it does raise my sceptism. The other thing that really is bothering me is aircon vents on the front row. The joystick (read no joy) simply does not allow the driver to get even a single whiff of air from the centre. The dealer told me that the only source of draft for the driver is the air vent in the sides. That is so unfair and gross for the driver, especially if he is the one paying for the beast. The other thing that is playing on my mind is the maintenance cost for spares, fuel efficiency, servicing costs. I would really be interested in knowing the figures if anyone is aware of it.
