I bought the Mahindra Classic in July 1996. Guess, I must have been one of the first buyers of the vehicle in Mumbai city. Its 2010 now. 14 years have passed and I still love driving my Classic. With its black color, it is a black beauty. Over time, I have added a power steering to the vehicle. But the engine is superb and powerful. The vehicle never says no for power. Its fuel efficiency is a bit low due to its power. It is about 8 kms / liter of Diesel. The mag-wheels are 14 years old and still doing fine. The jeep requires regular (once a year tin and paint job costing about 10 to 15k, Mumbai rates) to remain in perfect shape.
I love driving the vehicle without the hood. It is an eye-turner. No matter where you are. People will always stop at signals and give their visiting cards, asking for you to contact them, when you decide to sell it. And in my case. Thats going to be like NEVER. I just love this jeep. I love have loved if Mahindra had brought out an advanced version of the Classic. The Mahindra Thar doesnt come near to the looks of the Classic. The Classic is a really good looking Macho jeep. It packs a punch. I its a 4x4 drive but has only 4 gears and they are not synchronized. It would be better if a 5 gear, modern engine, high performance 21st century version of the Classic came out. It would be awesome. You have to own and drive a classic to know what I am talking about. The engine roar of the Classic is the roar of a lion among vehicles. It is just a beautiful off-roader to have.
The Classic is the king of the Off-roads and still stands unchallenged.
