I recently Purchased a Luminous ION make Sine Wave 800 VA Inverter, alongwith an Exide Inverter Battery (with Deep Discharge for long use). Batteries for inverters are different from Car Batteries, as they are designed for prolonged use, unlike a Car Battery that is designed for short term high powered use (like starting up the engine).

I had originally bought an 800 VA Luminous Home UPS - the Model released after ION, and it is full of Hiccups- much like the original Indica

ION, on the other hand  is a tried and tested model, and i would reccomend it to anyone, though it is NOT a UPS, and there is a 1-2 second break when the Load-shedding starts.

I am able to use my computer and a light and a fan, quite comfortably on the inverter, but i have a small UPS attached to my Comp already, so i don’t have a problem.


It even indicates when the battery is charging & fully charged!

But keep an eye on the Battery levels, periodically, pull the battrey out of the stand and have it’s level checked, or check it yourself!
