Luminous SOLO inverter 1400VA.
The inverter was purchased in January 2006. The initial service seemed to be good, but the luminous inverter is of low quality. Firstly my APC ups does not run on the inverter power, stating electrical noise as the reason. Then my adapter burned out on the inverter in 1hr. Now I remove my adapter in case of power failure. On contacting Luminous service, they advise that we should have purchased a pure sine-wave or UPS model of the inverter, well my 4 year old, 800VA inverter did not give any such problem. The dealer is not ready to change the model. Then they cannot find any fault with their inverter.

The sine wave and ups models were not available when I purchased this inverter. I was expecting the only high capacity luminous model should be of very good quality, but it seems the company had launched this model only to show that they are going with the competition. Please do not buy this SOLO model inverter, the inverter output is not safe for your appliances. I have heard the company is about to stop its production also, because the dealer from whom I purchased this model does not sell the SOLO model any more. You don’t get anything if you want to exchange the inverter. I purchased it for Rs. 7000, and the dealer said he can give only Rs 1000 if you want to exchange it for a sine wave inverter. The service personal after their third visit said that thy will charge if we keep calling without any problem, and call in case any of your equipment gets burnt.
