Loham: The Yellow Metal(2.5/5): The movie starts with the missing of a person named Ramesh from customs department. Where he is now is unknown even for his own wife(Andrea).
His wife comes to Cochin in search him. On the other side a smuggling team is trying to retrieve back a huge amount of gold which was hijacked from them. These two incidents has a connection in between. A strange driver named Raju(Mohanlal) comes into the plot with some secret intentions. What;s left watch it in theater.
Coming to the direction it feels like a Ranjith film in visual but the script doesn’t. Apart from the original story Ranjith also tried to communicate social relevant issues here and there in the movie which extended the run time. The camera is engaging most of the time. The musics are just good but most of the songs are burden for the film and didn’t sync up with the visuals. Coming to the background score it’s not appealing could have made a better one for some scenes.
The main drawback of the movie is the unwanted scenes and songs. There were unwanted casting in small scenes and were too in out of plot scenes. And I felt that the end should have made in much more punchy manner. And it’s not fully acceptable for common viewers and makes a lot of questions in audience. Some parts of movie drags and much of it is in the first half. The original movie plot is small but they just blown it and made it to a bigger one.
This movie does not go into Ranjith’s or Mohanlal’s top movie list but it is not bad either. The over expectations will kill this movie its mainly applicable to fans. To common audience this is an average movie for festive season. How long can this movie hold up with upcoming movies in the festive season?.lets wait and see.
