Middle East countries are mainly Muslim countries and they have their own traditions and one has to follow the rule and law of the place where one is residing .
I have been to Saudi Arab once for Haj, so I want to share my experience here.
In Saudi a women has to wear Abaya(Burqa). It is must for all even if they are non muslims .
And they must cover their head with a Veil .
If not they would be questioned by Mutawwas( local police).
Then at the time of prayers the shops are not closed but the shopkeeper leaves the shop opened and goes for prayers .At first when I saw this I was amazed as one could not think of this in India, the shop would be robbed, but not there .
So the people who are shopping have to wait for the shopkeeper to return back from the prayer and then they can continue their shopping.
Regarding traditional wear men in middle east usually wear a long robe which is called "Thop " and women wear long Gowns over which they wear Abaya and scarf.
Since people are very conservative, PDA(Public Display of Affection) is not taken too well there, not even holding hands in public.
So one has to respect the tradition and culture of place where they are going .
