Story:

Though many people think that "Little men' is not as impressive as 'Little women' is,I still think it is a great book.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Well this book is the sequel of the most famous book written by Alcott and one of the greatest American classics, "Little Women".It continues with the story started in the 'little women'.The march family has got separated to several families like the Brookes, the Bhaers, the Lawrences. The main story is based on the Bhaers who now live in Plumfield(which Jo has inherited from her old Aunt March) and where Mrs.Bhaer(Jo) now runs a boarding school for boys. The plot is the same as was in 'Little Women' : a sweet family story with all the tragedies and comedies that occur at plumfield.

THE CHARACTERS

Mr. and Mrs. Bhaer are doing a great job as teachers and parents. They are respected, feared as well as loved by all the student at plumfield.

Meg and John(the Brookes) live at their 'cottage' with their youngest child Josie while Daisy and Demi stay with their aunt Jo.Demi is a bookworm and Daisy as sweet and jolly as ever.

Amy and Laurie(the lawrences)live in their palace"parnasus" with their little "princess" Bess, who some times comes to Plumfield as a visiting fairy.

Marmie and Father(the marches)live nearer to Meg's house.

The Students:

Firstly, there is Little Teddy and his 5-year old brother Rob(Jo's sons).

Tom(Thomas Bangs)is the happy-go-lucky boy of the school always getting himself into scrapes.

Emil and Franz(Mr.bhaer's nephews)are both good fellows.Emil's aim is to be a sailor when he grow's up.Franz is the oldest scholar at plumfield and a great leader in absence of the master of the house.

Ned and Jack are what can be called Black-spots on a white sheet.

Stuffy(George) and Dolly are two always-hungry sweet youngsters.

Dick though physically challenged believed in his mental strength.Billy was a mentally unstable boy.

Nat,a new recruit, was a good musician but a little girlish and weak in nature. He was Daisy's pet.

Nan(a mother-less),high spirited kind of a girl (also new at the school) is very much like what Jo herself was at her age.

Last but not the least, there is Dan(my favourite)or "the firebrand",a tremendously independent,self-sacrificing boy who is not at all interested in studies except in the study of nature.

THE STORY

The plot and story is very simple and that's what makes this book unique. We can all relate instances given in the book with our own lives. The story is life-like and believable unlike many other stories. The tantrums caused by the boys and Nan(LOL!!) seem very real. The parents(the Bhaers)worried about their children,Mrs.Bhaer trying out ways to disuade Dan from his bad habits and to keep Daisy cheerful by inventing new games, the Tom-Nan affair,Daisy's faith on Nat,Nan and Rob getting lost while picking up berries and Little Teddy's undying love for his 'Danny' ,etc., are fabulously described by the author in simple language. The plot is good and true.

MY VIEWS

This book might not be a very good one according to some people yet it has got a lot of good things in it.Besides being an entertainer, this book is inspiring and I think that it can bring ones character more to the good light. Thus, this book is a must-read for all.
