This is a short review, I must say and without any fancy editing and all. I havent written a review for a long long time and hadnt planned to write any either. I just happened to read a review on this topic when I was searching for'Every Breath You Take' statistics.whether it really was the MOST REQUESTED SONG ON RADIO of all time! I had just collected these pieces of info from various websites and mailed it to my friends who are fond of Sting. So, I thought I'd share the info with my brothers(and female friends) on MS!

I just copy-pasted the entire email. Dont blame me if you dont like the review. I havent really concentrated much on making it a'REVIEW'. It will though, give you an insight into how I write my'forward' mails. I couldnt find a way to write a review on STING. There were options only to write on a few of the albums of Sting or in a category called'Five Best Songs Of Sting'. I thought this would be the most appropriate category.

Hoping for TONS of comments! Please be liberal with them.

Here goes:

-

The prologue to the Dire Straits' recording'Money For Nothing' that features Sting singing the words'I want my MTV' was at the invitation of Dire Straits leader Mark Knopfler. Sting came up with the musical motif to use for the words - and it was(probably consciously) musically identical to the melody line in his own Police song'Don't Stand So Close To Me' from the album Zenyatta Mondatta. Even though the prologue only occupies a few seconds at the start of the recording - Sting's music publisher Virgin Music insisted that Sting be credited(and paid) as though he had written half of the entire song. Sting and Knopfler remained friends despite this difference between their two music publishers and the fact that half of the writer's share of Knopfler's biggest hit goes to Sting for a contribution of just six musical notes out of the entire song.

In March 1980, the Police decided to embark on their first world tour, and they were one of the first major rock bands to play in places like Bombay, India and Egypt.

As Sting's fame rose, he began to exert more and more control over the group, aided by the fact that he wrote the bulk of their material. His relationship with band founder Stewart Copeland began to deteriorate, with the two reputedly coming to blows on some occasions. One notable fight occurred during an interview backstage, just after Stewart proclaimed, 'How about footage of me whooping Sting? That'd be interesting.' Stewart also wrote'F OFF YOU CT' on his drumheads and purposely arranged his cymbals to block out Sting on stage in response to the situation. The increasingly strained partnership was further stretched by the attendant pressures of worldwide fame, conflicting egos, money, publicity, and drugs.

In 1992, Sting wed Trudie Styler. Summers and Copeland were invited to the ceremony and reception. Aware that all band members were present, the wedding guests pressured the trio into playing, ultimately performing'Roxanne' and'Message In A Bottle'. Copeland said later that'after about three minutes, it became'the thing' again.'

On March 10, 2003, the Police were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and performed'Roxanne', 'Message In a Bottle', and'Every Breath You Take' live, as a group.

In 2004, Henry Padovani(who was the band's guitarist before he was replaced by Summers) released an album with the participation of Stewart Copeland and Sting in one track, reuniting the'original' Police members in a performance for the first time since 1977.

'In a sense I am more of a Hindu . I like the Hindu religion more than anything else at the moment.'I have become addicted to India . I would want to spend the rest of my life discovering your beautiful country.' On https://entertainment.iafrica.com/music/news/408631.htm

Sting takes in an average of$2000.00 per day in royalties for the now 20 year old song'Every Breath You Take.' The song is officially the most requested radio song of all time.
