Lipton Green Tea series is made from young tea leaves and comes in many variants. I tried out the classic Lipton Green Tea Pure and Light Tea Bags(Pack of 10 bags). I got it for Rs. 50 from a local reseller(MRP - Rs. 60). The packing was good with individual tea bags sealed in separate sachets. This helps preserve the aroma and freshness till use.
The Green Tea contains zero calories when consumed without milk or sugar. It is lighter in punch and a milder choice than ordinary tea. It beneficial effects are due to the active ingredient, i.e. catechins which help you stay light and active all day.
The aroma is mild and the taste is to be acquired(a bit of sugar helps). However, I like the warmth that it provides in my belly when I have a cup.
The correct way to prepare Green Tea - While preparing a cup of green tea don't boil the water completely. Pour the the water that is just beginning to boil(when tiny bubbles begin to form) over the tea bag. Then, let the tea sit for about 2-4 minutes max. Avoid milk as it leads to a process called chelation(due to the calcium in milk) and removes the beneficial constituents from the green tea. You can use sugar for taste, if required. You can alternatively let the green tea come to room temperature after preparation and serve with ice to make it iced green tea.
Tip - You can open up the used tea bags, sprinkle the contents over your plant base to act as a fertilizer in the garden. It will also help to deter certain pests from your plants.
