First things first. There is no bookshop called Landmark in Calcutta anymore. The place is now called Starmark. Now, this shop is part of the swanky Emami Shoppers' City mall and is situated on Lord Sinha Road. Its on the third floor of the mall.Starmark keeps books, yes, but it also sells CDs, DVDs, headphones, stationery items, jewellery and sundry other gift items. The prices are reasonable. The store layout is attractive-it seems bigger each time. The staff is well polite and generally phone enquiries are entertained. If you live far from the store as I do, thats a great advantage.
The book catalogue is electronic though not always in sync with actual stocks. There are sales every now and then here. All kinds of books are available in the shop. Some titles are not to be found elsewhere.I do go to this shop, so do all my family members.Landmark/Starmark hosts a very popular stall at the Calcutta Book Fair every year where you may buy through credit card. The crowd in Starmark is the hip, trendy, set who actually make purchases. The shop attracts a lot of kids who participate in the various events. If you are in Cal, do visit Starmark!
